Helpful resource for college kid struggling in O Chem. This was one of two resources my husband purchased to help our college son who was struggling in O Chem. He used these resources, talked to him professor, and time with a tutor and increased his grade considerably.So many typos!!!! I’m pretty disappointed with this book. I figured since it was written by such an acclaimed company that it would be more credible, but it’s riddled with typos, and ones that seriously confuse the reading (like misnumbering figures or having inconsistencies through working out the same problem). The book also doesn’t contain practice problems, which are essential to understanding chemistry. However, it did not advertise having practice problems so I can’t be mad like I am about the typos.Much of the book is confusing and doesn’t follow a clear path of learning, with constant references at the beginning of the book to what will be learned at the end of the book.I wish I bought a different book, but I’ll give it two stars rather than one because it does teach you orgo, even if poorlyGreat read prior to taking organic chem 1 Great read. This book is recommended for my organic chemistry class this coming up fall at SUNY Potsdam and I wanted to get a head start as I am a bit worried about the subject. So far I feel confident after the first couple chapters of this book which are easy to read and understand. I like the light-hearted humor in the book that makes it a less frightening subject as well. After this, I intend to read organic chemistry as a second language which seems like a more complicated version and in-depth book than organic chemistry for dummies.
